Initially the club was funded by running their own lottery and fund raising events. More recently we have relied on sponsorship from businesses within the Staplehurst area. At present our major sponsors are Homeliegh Timbers, but many other local businesses and individuals have also assisted with donations over the years.

Staplehurst Monarchs Football Club was founded in 1971. The club's objectives are to promote and develop association football amongst boys and girls between the ages of 7 & 18, by means of competitive and friendly matches, social and discussion sessions.

Our home games are played at the Jubilee sports field and the Diagrit sports field. Our training sessions utilise the facilities at Angley, Bethany, Senacre, Sutton Valance and Cornwallis schools, plus the all weather pitch at Marden.

The Future of the club is secured by our successful development group team. This group leads the players on to the Under 9's and sees them progressing through the teams, giving them 10 years of competitive youth football.

In our 30 plus years history, numerous cups and league titles have been won. For the best part of 20 years an annual end of season match is played between our under 16's team and Staplehurst village reserves for the "Mark Kingsford Cup", who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident.

As a major user of the sports facilities at the Jubilee Sports Field, we are involved with the Parish council in an application for substantial funding to develop & improve the facilities at the site.

At present the club is moving towards becoming a FA Charter Standard club with designated officials being responsible for child protection. Many more of our officials are F A Qualified coaches, first aiders & referees.
