With late withdrawals and only ten players available to play against a free scoring and promoted Barming team it looked ominous before the start, however I’m pleased to say that we put in a spirited display today.

2-1 to the away team at half time with Dan A scoring directly from a corner for his twelfth goal of the season shortly before the break we seemed to be in the ascendancy with Barming arguing amongst themselves at this stage. However an early goal to them in the second half settled their nerves and meant we were in for an uphill task as our 10 boys inevitably tired. Two goals followed, both from corners, and in truth it could have been more but for some heroic goalkeeping by Ollie combined with some last ditch defending to prevent further goals.

Joint man of the match award this week to both Ollie R and Michael, one chosen by the supporters and the other by Phil and myself. Ollie put in yet another commanding performance in goal, whilst Michael playing out of position on the right wing put in an excellent effort throughout the 80 minutes typified by a fantastic run back from beyond the half way line to nick the ball off Ben.  

The last game then of a long and hard season, we haven’t always got the results we wanted but have remained competitive throughout which is borne out by the improved stats for individual goals scored and conceded. At the moment it looks like we will finish 7^th in a tough league despite suffering from some severe injury problems since the turn of the year, so well done to everyone involved with the team including the boys’ parents as without their support there would be no team.
