THE BIG DAY

Today was all about the team enjoying their moment that they had worked so hard for all season, so no matter what today’s result we were definitely winners.

Our chance to play in a proper stadium saw all the boys up for a great game as we arrived to soak up a little of the atmosphere. Prior to the commencement of the game we booked in and found our place in the changing rooms. After a brief chat from our manager about enjoying today’s game, we went out onto the training pitch for a good warm-up knowing that all the hard work had already been done just getting ourselves to the final. With warm up over and kick-off time looming we had another pep talk about concentrating on what we needed to do in our individual positions and how we needed to cover for each other as a team.

With nerves upon us we made our way onto the pitch to start the game. Everyone started the game in good spirits, but as had happened on previous occasions we started a little bit slow and gave Kings Hill an opportunity to score an early goal in the first few minutes. After this as we have seen so often before the boys upped their game and started to get stuck into their football. We pushed forward and Aaron scored a great well deserved goal to give us the equaliser.

Half Time talk was about carrying on as we had finished the first half, making sure we closed down on the ball quicker and released the ball with speed to the wings, to try to make use of the width of the pitch. Our emphasis was on going forward to win the game rather than close down and be satisfied with a draw.

We came out for the second half and attacked the ball, working hard for each other. There was some great movement, solid passing & fantastic defending and to top it all some great saves from our keeper. But sadly with only minutes to go, it was Kings Hill who managed to increase the lead with their second goal, giving them a winning score of 2–1.

A fantastic performance by the whole team and an awful lot to be proud of. I hope you have all enjoyed the season as much as I have.

MOM - Far too hard to call as everyone had such an amazing game, we therfore award MEN OF THE MATCH to ' EVERYONE'
Thanks to everyone for their support today and throughout the season, great that we had such a good turnout.
